Training concepts with TensionCARE®
With TensionCARE® you can use the exercises presented here specifically to strengthen the connection to your horse. The structured exercises were developed in collaboration with Dr Tuuli Tietze.
1. Dry excercises
Simulation for a better feeling
Before riding the horse, the rein aids should be practised in a simulated environment. The trainer simulates the horse's mouth with their hands, while the rider improves their rein aids in a riding position. These dry exercises create the basis for correct use of the reins in the saddle..
Training examples:
- Rubber band outside reins: Sensing and understanding the use and effect of the outside reins
- The tempting inside rein: Sensing and understanding the use and effect of the inside rein
- "Hello, are you there?" - "Thank you!": Simulation of the fine control dialogue in the saddle including diagonal aids:
- Creative eights: Simulation of riding figure eight in correct contact with creative changes of position
2. Riding in the saddle
Direct implementation in riding
The rein signals learnt are applied directly in the saddle. TensionCARE® monitors and adjusts the rein dialogue to achieve finer communication with the horse. Exercises such as the position dialogue and riding the "figure eight" in varying bends help to develop a consistent and precise rein action
Training examples:
- Change of position: invisible dialogue in the saddle including diagonal aids in variable body postures
- Hand change lines: Change of position in real contact on the seat and clear guidance on the outside rein
- Cloverleaf, eye and the loop: straight and bend alternately in correct contact on creative lines
- Creative eights: Bending in correct contact with smooth, effective changes of position in variable silhouettes
3. Train physical dexterity, balance and fine motor skills
To ensure precise rein control, we place particular emphasis on the rider's physical dexterity. We use special exercises to compensate for the rider's handedness and promote balance and fine motor skills in the fingers.
Training examples:
- Body mouthpiece: effective riding on the seat with the rein dialogue as a refinement of the seat dialogue
- Your body speaks: effective riding on the seat with the rein dialogue as a refinement of the seat dialogue
- Load change figure of eight: Effect of different lateral movements with framing rein dialogue
- Shoulder click: Skew therapy through an effective straightening dialogue of the reins
4. Riding on the ground
Ground, hand and lunge work
In addition to riding in the saddle, work from the ground also plays an important role. TensionCARE is used to analyse and improve body language dialogues with the horse. Using work in hand and double lungeing, the sensor helps to check and optimise the rein dialogue.
Training examples:
- Ground work with a halter (lunge line as safety net): Checking the fineness of corrective lunge signals
- Handwork with short or long reins in real contact: “riding” from the ground with the same effective rein dialogue as in the saddle
- Lunging with the double lunge: checking the fineness of the rein dialogue on the outside and inside lunge
