What is TensionCARE^®?

TensionCARE^® is an innovative rein force gauge with 2 sensors that are attached to the left and right of the horse's reins. The sensors precisely measure the rein forces exerted by the rider on the horse's mouth. The data is transmitted wirelessly to a smartphone or tablet. Fine riding in real time. Normal rein forces and their effects

When riding, rein forces of up to 15 kilograms are not unusual, while finer riders often stay under two kilograms. However, excessive rein forces can lead to physical damage, behavioural problems and loss of confidence.

With TensionCARE^® Basic, a rider can connect directly to the sensors via Bluetooth. They receive immediate feedback via the app in the form of announcements or warning sounds. The smartphone should remain with the rider while riding, as the Bluetooth range is limited. A visual display of the data is possible while riding, but is not recommended.

With the gateway, TensionCARE^® Premium offers a greater range and additional functions, such as recording training sessions to analyse riding behaviour and improve human-horse communication. Several users can take part in a training session simultaneously and live, allowing everyone to learn how to handle the animals more gently.

Frequently asked questions

The sensors are attached to the left and right between the reins and bit. They are compatible with all common rein systems.

The app is compatible with iOS devices (iOS version 12) and Android devices (Android version 6).

The battery of both sensors and TensionCARE^® gateway lasts up to 8 hours in continuous operation and can be easily recharged with the charge cable included in the box.

Yes, TensionCARE^® is waterproof and can be used in all weather conditions.

Beyond the actual measuring range of 0 to 30 kilograms, the sensor can be subjected to loads of up to 45 kilograms without suffering permanent damage. In the event of a heavy overload (beyond 45 kilograms), the force measuring device can be damaged, but the reins remain stable up to the normal breaking load of 100 kilograms, so that the contact with the reins is maintained.

Yes, you can use the recording function to record the force progression in the app and play it back later or transfer the file to a PC for a later data analysis. However, this function is only available with TensionCARE^® Premium.

The data can be output in table format, transferred to a PC and analysed. In a future version there will be a synchronisation option with video data.

With TensionCARE^® there is a direct connection between the sensors and the mobile device. This is based on Bluetooth and therefore has a very limited range. Only one mobile device can be paired with the sensors at a time. TensionCARE^® Premium also includes a gateway, which enables very stable data transmission up to 100 metres. The gateway also allows data to be recorded and transferred to other end devices for later analysis. The gateway allows simultaneous display of the rider’s rein tension on several mobile devices.

If the TensionCARE^® sensors hang loosely on the reins, they 'break the rein' or the rider gets the feeling that the sensor is 'flapping' on the reins and irritating the horse. With the simple clamp mechanism, this effect is avoided and the reins form an almost rigid line with the sensor.

Yes, you can define the desired force range. If the force exceeds or falls below this range, you will receive a warning or an audible alarm. The data is displayed in green, yellow or red in the graph.
